Young people tend to leave, and retired people (who tend to be on the wealthier end of the scale) are moving to the nicer (read: wealthier) parts of the state. It seems to me that many of the people who are moving to the state are those who have access to healthcare and the means to deal with some of the less favorable things about the state (i.e. living on the surface of the moon for a solid nine months a year). This is maaaybe one of the only things I could see matching up with CA – enough people with decent amounts of money are moving there to offset any declines.

I mean IT has been pretty big in pop culture the last few years. I have 5 and 9 year old girls. They haven’t seen the movie, but they both know who Pennywise is. My daughter who is almost 4 is obsessed with Anabelle cause she saw a preview for the movie while watched the morning local news. I don’t know–at the ripe old age of seven, I watched Silence of the Lambs and then Hannibal because I found them hidden away under the television and thought the “butterfly” on the cover looked neat. I remember turning to my friend and saying “what the fuck!” too because seriously, who the fuck brings kids to LSU Tigers 2019 SEC Football Champions It Just Means More shirt Sweater that type of movie. I feel like kids under the age of 12 shouldn’t be allowed into R rated movies regardless of if a parent is with them or not. I enjoy R rated movies more specifically because there’s less of a chance of annoying kids being in the theater. Back in the day my dad was all about the horror films and gorey stuff, so as a child for me it was Freddy Krueger, Jason, michael myers, etc and the occasional from dusk till dawn. I loved it! These of course were all watched in the comfort of home, never and not once was I brought to the movie theater for a movie like that below the age of 12. I know a 6 year old that watches and LOVES horror movies. Her mother is a big fan of them so she has been watching them her whole life. The only real effect is that thirty years later I’m an adult who loves horror movies and doesn’t get scared by them. I think it’s because I developed a very strong division between fiction and reality at a young age.

And I just want to say, as an adult with kids that like the Hotel Transylvania movies. They are pretty entertaining movies, Cats make me happy humans make my head hurt shirt  with enough adult humor to keep my wife and I entertained while our kids watch them. The Count on Sesame Street and Count Chocula have been doing their things since the early 70s, as well. Dressing your kid up like Jacob would be weird, but vampires in general have long had a kids side. My daughter has always wanted to be spooky stuff for Halloween. Last year was grade one and we were called to either pick her up or change her costume from the school. We brought her to the movies. Absolutely. I had just got back from work (night shift) and found my daughter up before everyone with the makeup more or less completed. We let her go because we didn’t think the other kids would even get the reference. I was in the same boat and then I had uncontrollable diarrhea for three years straight. Crohn’s disease. I had a doctor cancel an appointment the day before I was supposed to see them and I broke down crying because I was at the end of my rope and I had been waiting months for that appointment.Wages are also extremely low for the cost of living around here. COL has definitely skyrocketed and has been since before our minimum wage has increased, and it continues to do so regardless of our wages. Many people here work to survive. That’s all they do is just survive. It’s stressful. I joked with my mother the other day about having a heart attack in my 40s and dying because I’m stressed and I work so much with very few days off. And honestly, it may become the truth.

The stage is being set for some pretty dark times. 44% of America’s workforce is making less than $20k a year in wages. We are in the midst of automating away around 25% of the most common jobs in the American economy over the next 10-15 years. It is unusual for a developed country to see a reduction in life expectancy for one year, let alone three in a row. We need to re-examine our assumptions about how our economy operates because it is not working for the majority of Americans. We see it in the data when GDP and corporate profits are at all-time highs along with financial insecurity, suicides, and drug overdoses also being at record highs. We need our government to wake up to this reality.

People also always forget that there just aren’t a lot of people there. More people live north of the arctic circle than live in the state of Wyoming. The cost of living (outside of Jackson) is relatively low, Fluff off cat shirts  which probably affects death rates in this age segment. This also means that drugs and violent crimes are less ubiquitous. As others have noted, the drug use in WY is pretty different from other parts of the country. Meth and alcohol are the main drug problems, where as other things probably aren’t profitable enough to bother with. I was in high school during the height of the prescription opioid epidemic and prescription pills WERE widespread and easily accessible. Most of the kids I knew had tried and had easy access to pills. I don’t really know what happened but it does seem like pills have mostly died down in the last few years and other opioids just never really made it into the state.
